Eerste dag verkenning
De dag van de aankomst van de meeste spelers (een aantal zijn al gearriveerd), waarbij het vooral zaak is om te acclimatiseren door de kamers en de omgeving te verkennen. Aan het eind van de middag is de groep naar Mission Beach gegaan voor een strandwandeling.
First day reconnaisance
The day of arrival of the most players (some have arrived already), which is spent by getting familiar with the surroundings by getting around in the dorms. At the end of the afternoon the group went to Mission Beach for a beach walk.
Zaterdag 17 juni / Saturday June 17th
Inrichten, Bas Barbershop en Padres wedstrijd
Nu iedereen binnen is, is het tijd om de dorms naar Nederlandse maatstaven te brengen. We zitten aan de gang bij de ingang van het gebouw, waardoor iedereen door onze oranje gang heen moet en de oranje vibe en geur mee krijgt. Vervolgens staat de eerste lichte training gepland onder leiding van coach Nate om te wennen aan het veld en de omstandigheden. De dag markeert ook de opening van Bas Barbershop, voor iedereen beschikbaar voor een fresh cut of shave. Aan het eind van de middag gaan we gezamenlijk naar de honkbalwedstrijd van de San Diego Padres tegen de Toronto Blue Jays. Het scoreverloop bood weinig vermaak, met een 2-0 eindstand voor de Padres. De avond hebben we afgesloten met taco’s bij Tacos el Gordo.
Decorating, Bas Barbershop and Padres game
With everybody in, it is time to decorate the dorms in accordance with Dutch standards. We are located in the hallway at the entrance of the dorms, having everybody accessing the building going through our hallway getting a hint and scent of the orange vibe. Following the morning we have our first light practice under direction of coach Nate in order to get used to the field and other circumstances. The day also marks the opening of Bas Barbershop, available for everyone in need of a fresh cut or a shave by Bas’ ladies. By the end of the afternoon we head downtown to visit the San Diego Padres for their game against the Toronto Blue Jays. We were led down by the score, the end result was a 2-0 win for the Padres. We ended the evening with taco’s at Tacos el Gordo.
Zondag 18 juni / Sunday June 18th
Dubbele trainingsdag
Na ontbijt staat de eerste lichte training op de rol, met iedereen inclusief staf aan boord is het tijd om de sticks warm te krijgen. ’s Avonds hebben we een gezamenlijke training met FCA (fellowship of christian athletes), waarin elke unit (verdediging, middenveld, aanval) opgesplitst wordt en specifieke oefeningen getraind worden. We ronden af met een mini wedstrijd, waarin FCA bereid is in verschillende tactische vormen ons trainingen te bieden.
Double practice day
After breakfast we have the first sticks and gloves practices, with everybody on board it is time to get the sticks warm. In the evening we have a second practice together with FCA (fellowship of christian athletes), in which each unit (defense, midfield and attack) is split up with specific drills being executed. We close off the practice with a mini scrimmage, with FCA helping out playing different sets allowing us to get in the mindset of gameplay.

The 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s World Championship will feature 30 teams and more than 100 games at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego from June 21 to July 1, 2023.
